severe network problems with Host Networking

Post by rm53 »

when I use Host Networking via Airport, I get odd behavior:
- usually after some minutes my Mac (host and VB clients) can no longer reach the network (neither LAN nor Internet), while the Airport symbol shows the Mac is still connected on a lower level (WiFi). The only method I found to recover is to disable Airport, then reenable it, and voila, the network connection is back.
- sometimes even my home ADSL modem hangs up in some way, so I have to reboot it. It sounds unbelievable, but it is reproducible: when the Airport connection survives long enough, finally the ADSL modem will hang up itself. (My multiple Airport Express WLAN is connected to the Internet via an Alcatel ADSL modem.) This happens only when I have a VM running which uses Host Networking! Mysterious.

Can somebody help?
