Issues booting HAOS VM on mac host

Post by abreyen »

Hello!

I am looking for assistance getting this to boot.

It's just getting stuck on a black screen, I dont even get the Virtualbox splash screen.

Please see attached log. Let me know if more is needed.

I have attempted completely uninstalling Virtualbox using the uninstaller command, as well as deleting and recreating the VM.

In the Display settings for your VM try increasing Video Memory from 16MB to 128MB

I was able to install and run HAOS ok on my 2017 iMac. However, I am running Ventura 13.2.1 and it looks as though you are running Ventura 13.3

This VM uses EFI and there are problems with EFI when running VirtualBox 7.0.6 on Ventura 13.3

Usually there is a crash with a 'Guru Meditation' error, but no crash in your log - just a system freeze. If its critical for you to have this VM running then you could install Ventura 13.2 into a separate volume on your machine. Alternatively, this bug will hopefully be fixed in the next release of VirtualBox.

welp... that's frustrating!

Yup, i'm running ventura 13.3 on a 2018 mac mini (intel).
Called Apple support, there isn't a way to downgrade just a minor version of macOS, i'd have to go back to the OS that my mini shipped with, then if I update it, it'll just get me back on 13.1

I'll just have to wait for a Virtualbox update, is there somewhere to monitor the status of this?

Also, is this fix in v 7.0.7? Like if I trued running a version from the Testbuilds page virtualbox(dot)org/wiki/Testbuilds?

EDIT: nope, neither 7.0.7 or 7.0.97 fixes the issue
