Hello, I cannot attach a USB storage disk to any of my Linux VMs. Get the same error:
00:02:17.120003 USB: Interface 0x0 on device 'p=0x25a2;v=0x1058;s=0x00007e03418b6036;l=0x0d240000' is being used by another process. (prot=0x50 class=0x8)
00:02:17.120504 usbProxyConstruct: Failed to open 'p=0x25a2;v=0x1058;s=0x00007e03418b6036;l=0x0d240000', rc=VERR_SHARING_VIOLATION
00:02:17.120606 ERROR [COM]: aRC=NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) aIID={6ac83d89-6ee7-4e33-8ae6-b257b2e81be8} aComponent={ConsoleWrap} aText={Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_SHARING_VIOLATION)}, preserve=false aResultDetail=-114
Because the disk is in Linux EXT4 format, when plugging into Mac, a prompt comes up because it doesn't recognize format, and I choose "Ignore". This all worked with vbox 6.x versions.
Full log file attached.

Thanks for the workaround. Do we know if a bug has been filed and if/when it will be fixed?

Personally, I don't know. The Bugtracker is the place to look and post.
