Newbie: Host Ubuntu 18.04, Guest: Kali 2020.2 amd64
I am using VirtualBox 6.1.8,, was able to install Kali, however when I start it I get an error "VBox Client Failed to Register". I am able to login as root however, cannot run anything. In the logs, I noted that the VM state is changing from "off" to "destroying". Any guidance on where to begin would be greatly appreciated. I have searched the forums, and read through the User's Guide.

One thing you may have noticed in searching the forums is that forum gurus ask folks to zip and post the guest log, since often the information distilled by the poster is way too distilled, as it is here.
Start the guest from full power off, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.
Please right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Please state where the error showed itself: inside the guest OS window, or in a separate popup from Virtualbox, or another source. If the popup box was a Virtualbox error window, there was likely a Copy button to facilitate copying the whole error message to the forum.Nic0_B86 wrote:I get an error "VBox Client Failed to Register"

The error was a popup from Virtualbox generated while the guest OS was booting up. I wasn't able to capture the screen error correctly. I have attched the log file.
Thank you so much.

The only thing I see in the log is a mismatch between the Virtualbox & Extension Pack versions, which must match:
Switch one or the other.00:00:00.755920 VirtualBox VM 6.1.8 r137981 linux.amd64 (May 14 2020 19:43:27) release log
