[Resolved] USB devices suddenly not available for client

I have the following setup:

Xubuntu 18.04 64bit as a host, Win7 as a client. However it affects all clients. After finding out that all USB devices where unaccesible by the client, dispite having the right ExtPack and being member of vboxusers group, I decided to reinstall the host anew.

Right after the fresh install, I installed virtualbox again, installed the ExtPack and added my user to the vboxusers group. After rebooting I could see all USB devices listed under Devices.

Then I carried on with my installation:

1. I restored my system with APTIK: Repos, Packages, Users, Groups, Dconf, Cron, Icons & Themes
2. I installed and added some custom programs & scripts

When I checked if the USB devices where still available for the clients, again there was the annoying message of: no devices available.

Thank you in advance
R

The log is in the attachement & here are my requested outputs from the terminal:

So, let me get this straight...
  1. You had a broken setup.
  2. You installed a fresh system again and it worked.
  3. You restored from backup the broken setup.
  4. Now it doesn't work.
Is this the problem you're trying to solve?

BTW, the VM log won't help if your host is broken. Until you get a proper "VBoxManage list usbhost" output, you can forget about any guest, you got to have VirtualBox USB operational on the host first.

Sorry,

I had this long time ago and I forgot what it was.

It's an ownCloud bug. As long as the oc client is running while starting vbox, no USB devises will be displayed. As soon as the oc client is down, USB devices are on again.

Thanks anyways

Does this ownCloud include a USB filter? Can you find out, because from a quick search I couldn't see any details.
