Arch host, Win7 guest BSODs: BIOS not fully acpi compliant
Re: Arch host, Win7 guest BSODs: BIOS not fully acpi compliant
Issue found Arch Linux comes with newer iasl, which miscompiles SSDT and/or DSDT. I've posted the solution to the Arch Linux bug tracker and poked the maintainer of the virtualbox package.

Why, oh why in the seven kingdoms would you do that, just to repeat the message again moments later?pepitogrillo wrote:Sorry, I deleted my previous post because I had posted it without reading all the follow-up messages.
Please don't do that again! Deleting posts that have been answered and change the nature/flow of the discussion Is considered vandalism and it's basis for banning!
I like your contributions, I honestly don't want to be forced to ban you, not even for an hour!

Windows 7 doesn't boot after update - STOP Error 0x000000A5
Hai,
today i decided to install the updates on my Windows 7 VM and do also a reboot of the host.
After that, i get this strange error - even i try to re-install Win 7.
Log cannot attached of the boot sequence cause it is bigger as 128 KB.
Uploaded it to a hoster: [ModEdit: 3rd party site URL deleted]
A short search gave me this: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=windows+7+upd ... &ia=videos
But afaik i can only switch to UEFI, which have me also a headache.
Host
Manjaro Xfce 64 Bit

Thanks for your help in advance

Could you link to the bug tracker entry? Updated host modules appeared today. The problem does not appear to have been solved. Win7 VMs still bluescreen.yan12125 wrote:Issue found Arch Linux comes with newer iasl, which miscompiles SSDT and/or DSDT. The problem is in the virtualbox package instead of virtualbox-host-modules-arch. FYI, a nice Arch user posted how to build a working virtualbox: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 4#p1842474.rsk02 wrote:Updated host modules appeared today. Re: Arch host, Win7 guest BSODs: BIOS not fully acpi compliant
Rebuilding virtualbox 6.06 to acpica-20190215 as outlined here fixes the problem for me and restores Shared Folders (Ubuntu guest and fixes the W7 bsod also).
Code: Select all

Re: Arch host, Win7 guest BSODs: BIOS not fully acpi compliant
Updated Arch Linux package virtualbox 6.0.6-2 is released! It fixed the BSOD issue on win7.
