Problem in reinstalling VirtualBox

Post by zak100 »

Hi,
I got problem with USB. Virtual Box can't access USB. So I accessed a site which I asked me to purge the virtual Box. I did not know what the purge does. I found that it deleted the virtual box.Now I am facing problem in reinstalltion maybe because I have manually deleted the Virtual Machines.

I have installed virtual Box 6.0. I think previously I had different version. But when I try to install Mobisec virtual Machine, I am getting following error:
Failed To OpenSession.
It asks me to execute /sbin/VboxConfig but when i execute it , it asks password of root but when I give the password, it does not accept the password and stops by saying permission denied.

I don't know how to fix this problem. Can somebody please guide me.

Zulfi.

Not sure what you've done there, and I won't be sure unless I sit in front of your computer, but you seem to have some security/authorization issues with your host there. I don't know what you did, but it seems you have resolved it. Do you mind telling us how? Do you have to run VirtualBox as 'root' perhaps?

As for re-installing your virtual machines. Are you sure that the virtual machines are gone, and not simply "registered" to the user's account that you use?

PS. You don't have to include a screenshot of your whole desktop, just to focus on a dialog. Crop the image next time, or even better, copy the text and post the text instead of a picture.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Hi,
Actually I first installed the Virtual Box which was related to Ubuntu but that was also from Oracle corporation. But When I deleted the stuff manually I installed Oracle virtual Box having oracle logo. So I was getting permission denied message. Some I searched and found thatthere is a different virtual box for Ubuntu. I first thought its from Ubuntu corporation so I tied to hide this information on the forum because I was afraid that I won't get any help. However after sometime, I checked the "Help", i found it is also from Oracle. Its version is:
GUI version 5.2.18-Ubuntu r123745.

Please guide me how to free the space. I created the "local-host only network and it is still there in the new one. This was confusing to me and you are right that:

<Are you sure that the virtual machines are gone, and not simply "registered" to the user's account that you use?>

I am getting a disk problem.

If you try to pull such a trick on the people that are trying to help you, we're going to discover the lying and the cheating (there are a lot of ways), and not only you won't get help, but you will be banned for life!

That's the Ubuntu fork version of VirtualBox. You can either ask in their forums/channels for help, or completely remove/uninstall/delete/purge their version and install the official version from the Linux Downloads section of VirtualBox.

Then we can continue the discussion...
