[Solved] Knoppix will not go to full sceen

Post by hambone »

My Host machine is MX Linux. Running VB 6.0 and GA 6.02. Have installed and ran Mint 18, Linux Lite, PC Linux, Manjaro and Zorin in a virtualbox. Install the GA's the same way in each to get full screen. All work good. BUT Knoppix 8.1 will not go full screen even after installing GA's as I did in the other iso's. Any ideas?? Thanks.

We need to see a complete VBox.log, from a complete VM run, where the problem occurs:
  • Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe problem / Shutdown the VM (force close it if you have to).
  • With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
  • Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response. See the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form.

00:00:01.287388 Path <string> = "/home/ham/Downloads/VBoxGuestAdditions_6.0.2.iso" (cb=49)
Do not download the Guest Additions (GAs) ISO separately. The GAs are bundled with the program. Please read 4. Guest Additions.

You have selected the VMSVGA option with 3D enabled and the max VRAM. Try switching to the "VBoxVGA" GPU option and see how that goes. Toggle 3D acceleration and see how that goes as well.

Switched to VBoxVGA, turned off 3D no change. Ran VBoxLinuxAdditions.run file from terminal and rebooted. Started up full screen. THANKS very much! You have also have given me some insight to what to try on other distros if this problem comes up.
If you ever make it to south Texas the beers on me. Thanks again.

The VMSVGA is the new and improved foundation for the next gen graphics support, but it may have an issue or two, which will be ironed out (I expect) not before long. The VBoxVGA is the old trusted but limited one. Glad you got it going, marking as [Solved].
