Scaling between two monitors

Post by markd89 »

Hi,

I'm running Debian Stretch as my host and Windows 7 as a guest, VirtualBox 5.2.22

My laptop has a hiDPI (3840x2160) screen. I also have a 1920x1080 monitor that extends my desktop.

When I start the Windows 7 VM, it looks normal (i.e. not tiny) on the 3840x2160 screen. If I check the resolution in the Windows guest it says 1920x944. As it's taking most of the screen, I'd suspect it's being scaled at 200% but I check View|Scale Factor and it's set at 100%. In any case, it looks fine.

If I drag that VM window over to the 1920x1080 monitor, it is magnified much too much. I tried setting scaled mode and dragging it smaller but that makes for a very blurry screen. I'd suspect it's being scaled down to 960x540 then back up to 1920x1080 or something like that.

What would be nice would be an option so when I place the window on the 1920x1080 monitor, it displays at the resolution windows thinks it is -- i.e 1920x944. Am I missing something?

Thanks!
Mark

Try the 6.0.0 RC1. It has much better controls over individual monitors.
With its own set of bugs... ;)
