I am trying to use a USB HIOKI LR8431 Datalogger from a Linux Machine (Ubuntu 18.04 or CentOS 7).
Since there is no native Linux driver I had no other choice than using a Windows 7 virtual machine.
I was able to create a Windows 7 virtual machine, install the Drivers and Data Logger utility and connect the HIOKI Data Logger.
The HIOKI Data Logger is correctly seen and recognized in the Virtual Machine but when I try to connect to it within the HIOKI utility an error pops up saying the utility cannot communicate with the HIOKI Data Logger.
What I tried to do so far (without any success):
- Use USB 2 and USB 3 compatibility
- Installed USB 3 Drivers in Windows 7
- Added my user to the vboxusers group
- Rebooted, unplugged the VM and the device
- Read the relevant documentation pages.
- Checked that the device is correctly working on a non-virtual-machine Windows machine.
- Checked that the device is not working on a qemu-libvirt Windows 10 virtual machine with the very same symptoms.
