Fedora 28 dnf: "Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'virtualbox'"

Post by spamrefuse »

Hi,

Since about a week I have trouble synchronizing with the VirtualBox repository. All other Fedora repositories work fine. I have copied once again the repo file from the VirtualBox website and imported the corresponding key, but to no avail:
# dnf update
...
Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'virtualbox', disabling.
...
I also tried to clean up the dnf cache with "dnf clean all", but that did also not help.

Is there a problem with the servers at Oracle?

Same here. When I browse the repo manually Fedora 28 redirects to Fedora 26. But the repodata files cannot be downloaded for the f28 path only the f26 path. Something is strange with the repo setup and maybe f28 is symlinked to f26.

If you edit /etc/yum.repos.d/virtualbox.repo and use:

baseurl=http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb ... /$basearch

Then it should work.

Hi,
Yes - i can confirm that this works.

I checked my logs, and Fedora 28 versions were installed before - so has Oracle removed versions 27 and 28, since these repo's point to Fedora 26, and you have to accept the new GPG Key.

Why has Oracle done this ?

Shadders.
