[Solved] Compiling VBOX modules 4.14.11-300

Post by DoubleM »

Has anyone been able to compile vbox kernel modules on a fedora 27 host running kernel 4.14.11-300 (with KPTI patches to mitigate the Meltdown)?

Regards
M

It failed at first.
Some minutes ago I gave a deeper look at the error logs and I have been able to compile the modules installing

elfutils-libelf-devel-0.170-1.fc27.x86_64

Anyone is aware exactly why elfutils are necessary now?
As far as I understood, the "Kaiser" patch has to do with moving part of the kernel away from userspace (wrong?)
