On version 5.1.28 USB 3/2 is not working.

Just trying to start different machines and I have to use the USB 1 setting to get VM's to run. Running Win 10, Server 2012, also two Linux distros. In previous version I was able to read USB 3 after adding me to the vboxusers group. Is there a command to go back to previous version? Or other fix?

I am running Fedora 26 64 bit. Last week I added myself to the vboxusers group and WOW I could read the USB inside my VM's.
Not this week and I need to get this function working. I am in class at CSU-Pueblo and need this to do my labs.
VM's used are Win 10 64 bit, Server 2012, Kali.

I have installed Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack the error message is now gone but still not able to view USB after VM is loaded.
I have set the USB settings to USB 2 and still not able to recognize the USB.
Please help me see my USB...Randy

  2) VBoxManage list extpacks
  3) id
  4) One of the guests log files that show you trying to connecting the USB and it failing ( as an attachment ) (compress it if too large to post normal)

I did find logs here but the files with current date are nor readable with vim.

The guests log file is actually on the host. Located in the logs folder of the guest itself or if you have a GUI right click and then left click on show log. Only need to see one log that shows the failure and if it is too large to post compress it.

What was the exact location of this file including the file name and extension?

file is /var/log/hawkey.log. What is the cause of this problem?

The problem is that is not the log I asked for. Do you have a command line only host or does it use a desktop? If it uses a desktop the you should have a GUI main manager. If so the you can access the guests log file by right clicking the guest and then left clicking show log. If you do not have a GUI then the guests log file is stored in the same folder the actual guest is located in under the folder logs. This is usually located in /home/<user name>/VirtualBox VMs/<name of guest>/logs.
