host only network vboxnetx will not start automatically

Post by dogfish »

Hi All,

OS="Linux Mint 18 Sarah" (fully updated)
Virtualbox version 5.1.24
using vagrant 1.9.7

for some reason my vboxnet* networks will always be in status 'down' unless I do

sudo ifconfig vboxnet0 up

which will bring the interface online. I'm not sure when this happened but everytime after a reboot I must perform this process. Anyone know why it happens or how I can resolve it? I don't know when this started happening but it's very annoying and interrupts a vagrant workflow.

There is a sticky on the top of the forum that you posted: 5.1.24 Private Networks Failing on Fedora 26 (#16911). Have a look at it...
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.
