I'm on KDE Neon (Ubuntu 16.04) & few days ago I upgraded Virtualbox to Version 5.1.24 r117012 (Qt5.9.1). I also updated the Guest Additions on my Windows 7 VM to 5.1.24r 117012.
Since then I've been unable to rdp to the Windows VM. Nor can I ping it from the Linux side. However I am able to browse Linux from Windows via Samba.
I have both a NAT adapter & a Host-Only adapter between the 2. I used to be able to rdp using the DHCP-assigned address on the Host-Only adapter, but no longer can.
Cannot ping or RDP after most recent upgrade

Re: Cannot ping or RDP after most recent upgrade
The host-only network has a problem with 5.1.24. See viewtopic.php?f=7&t=83853 and try the test builds: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds
