Host freezes on Kubuntu 17.04

Hi!

I'm running Kubuntu 17.04 (upgdaded from Ubuntu 14.04). I run minikube VM in VirtualBox (5.1.22-dfsg-0ubuntu1.17.04.1). At some point VirtualBox started freezing the host completely when trying to start. No matter if I try to start the minikube VM or the VirtualBox GUI app — immediately after starting 'virtualbox' command the whole machine freezes.

Purged and reinstalled VB a few times, no difference.

Any idea where to look for clues?
