I would like to start running VirtualBox VMs on KodiBuntu.
KodiBuntu is Ubuntu 14.04 with just enough GUI to run Kodi.
It does not include the GNOME or KDE desktops, but I think it does include the X windows required for Kodi.
I installed VirtualBox and "vboxmanage" does run with no issues.
I would like to start making VMs now.
I am not sure if I require a full GNOME or KDE desktop to use Virtualbox, even though I am using "vboxmanage"
It would seem logical that "vboxmanage" only manages the VMs and still requires a full Gnome or KDE library even though I am using CLI only.
The frontend of KodiBuntu of course runs Kodi.bin so no desktop there.
I can alt-F1 and login that way..but I think that provides only a very basic X-Windows environment.

If you are sure that you have X installed makes little difference to running a guest, but you must create and run the guest headless. This is all discussed in the users manual http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch07.html#vboxheadless

By the way you might want to check this out viewtopic.php?f=32&t=60069 if you would like a better user friendly way to control the guests.
