Fedora 25 vboxdrv error

Post by phoenix_rising »

Hi,

I have installed Virtualbox-5.1 from repo, but this error persists. I have dkms and gcc installed, there's no such thing as kernel-devel or kernel-core-devel as requested by running sudo /sbin/vboxconfig.

Code: Select all

WARNING: The vboxdrv kernel module is not loaded. Either there is no module
available for the current kernel (4.8.6-300.fc25.x86_64) or it failed to
load. Please recompile the kernel module and install it by

           sudo /sbin/vboxconfig

You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed.
No protocol specified
Qt FATAL: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display :0

The akmod-virtualbox and kmod-VirtualBox come from rpm fusion only. There is no akmod-Virtualbox-5.1 or kmod-Virtualbox-5.1 in the virtualbox repository at
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb ... 25/x86_64/.

The system was fully updated and rebooted and has been rebooted since installing virtualbox from repo.

There are 2 faults, the first is the vboxdrv error, the second it won't even open the virtualbox manager gui, which it did when I accidentally installed it from rpmfusion.

Thanks in advance

Don't use rpmfusion packages and first try again with secure boot switched off in BIOS.
