Failed to save the state of the virtual machine

Post by Rob H »

I see this unanswered on another forum but it seems better here.
See unix dot stackexchange dot com questions 255684 failed-to-save-the-state-of-the-virtual-machine

Problem is solved for me turning out to be insufficient disk space. Perhaps this will help the next searcher.

Receiving this error:
Failed to save the state of the virtual machine MyVMName.
Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)

Using this version:
VirtualBox Graphical User Interface Version 5.1.8_Debian r111374

The VM is Windows 10.

Thanks,
Rob

The (in)ability to save a state of a VM can vary, insufficient space can very well be one of them and a it is a pretty good candidate. But not the only one. Usually the logs tell the whole story.

But thank you for sharing your experience.
