Failed to open a session for the virtual machine after upgrade

Post by pkvirtual »

Hi,

I receive following error message after I upgraded the VMware.

Code: Select all

Implementation of the USB 2.0 controller not found!
Because the USB 2.0 controller state is part of the saved VM state, the VM cannot be started. To fix this problem, either install the 'Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack' or disable USB 2.0 support in the VM settings.
Note! This error could also mean that an incompatible version of the 'Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack' is installed (VERR_NOT_FOUND).
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component:
ConsoleWrap
Interface:
IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}
I tried to install the latest extension pack but it says already installed.

Somebody please help me resolve it.

Thank you.

Discard the saved state. It's going to be like "abruptly" shutting down the virtual computer, but it starts the VM afresh.

With the VM shutdown (completely), right-click on the VM on the VirtualBox Manager and select Show Log. ZIP it (only the 1st one) and attach it to your response.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Thank you for your quick reply.
I have only snapshot and clone options active.
Please tell me how to discard the current state and get the log file. I am completely new to the virtual machine operations.

Thank you.

Do you see the "Powered Off" under your VM's name? That tells you that your VM is not in a saved state.

Right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log". Save the "VBox.log" (just the first one), ZIP it and attach it in your response (see the "Upload attachment" at the bottom of the form).

From the logs:
00:00:00.330551 Installed Extension Packs:
00:00:00.330568 None installed!
If it says it's already installed, something is messed up. Take a look at "Ch. 8.41 VBoxManage extpack" and look at the cleanup and the examples section. Actually the whole thing is less than a page...

I followed the cleanup and uninstall steps.

Then your case is different and you are posting in the wrong topic. Better to start your own topic than hijack an irrelevant one.
