The resolutions of your video card are in the real world. The resolutions of the "VirtualBox Graphics Adapter" are in the virtual world. They don't necessarily match. Have you tried to take your guest to Full Screen, either by the menu or by pressing Host-F?
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.

Yes, always run in full screen mode.
I tried to insert different modes too.
A couple of months ago, everything worked as it should.
After the upgrade, the system (host, Ubuntu) has ceased to be determined by resolution of the monitor
I did a clean install of the system, the host and guest
But the problem has not disappeared

So you host has a problem of determining the correct resolutions after upgrading it? Does your host have the 1920x1080 resolution?

The host determines the monitor correctly. I could not see it happen after upgrading a package. But reinstalling the system does not help
Please see screenshots can become clear

I usually don't go to 3rd party sites, so please next time attach them here.

Shut down all your VMs. Go to the VirtualBox Manager settings, Display, Maximum Guest Screen Size = None. See if that helps.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

In the drop-down menu, there are three values: auto | any | custom
I tried all. Did not work

I suspect that the case in the host.
It happened after the upgrade of the system package.
And with that simultaneously stopped working copy paste between the host and the guest.
Before that everything was fine.

Where did you get VirtualBox from? Please post a log from the problematic VM. With the VM fully shut down right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager. Select "Show Log..." zip it and attach it.

I can't say that I see anything funky, but I'm not that much of an expert on screen resolutions. As for the Display options it seems worrisome that you see "auto | any | custom". Here's what mine looks like (VirtualBox 5.1.6):

I use the Russian version of vbox
I made a mistake in the translation value field dropdown menu.
When I select the value of "None"
In the guest OS, I can choose higher resolutions.
But they are 4:3 and 16:9 is not present
And this is a problem in all guest OS (win7, win10, winXP)
The size of my monitor 1920 x 1080
The guest OS can choose size:
6400 x 1200
5120 x 1024
4800 x 1200
3840 x 1024
3200 x 1200
2560 x 1024
1920 x 1440
1600 x 1200
1400 x 1050
1280 x 1024
1152 x 864
1024 x 768
800 x 600

I installed version of VirtualBox 5.0.24 and it worked. Monitor resolution is determined correctly and copy paste between the host and guest operating correctly.
