I have a Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca host OS. I got this message when trying to import the Whonix Gateway

Failed to import appliance

Could not open the OVA file '/home/mint/Downloads/Whonix-Gateway-13.0.0.1.1.ova' (VERR_ACCESS_DENIED).

Result Coe: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR(0X80BB0004)

I just did apt-get update.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is can can offer solutions?

This says that you "mint" do not have permission to use this file. Check the permissions and if you are not the owner then change the file permission to you ( chown )
