Home folder as shared folder

Post by hattu »

My host is Ubuntu Feisty and I am using Virtualbox to run Win2000 in a virtual machine. So far I have shared only one folder. Therefore, to access files of the host OS from Win2000, I first have to move the desired files to the shared folder.

I was wondering, is there any reason not to share my whole Ubuntu's /home/username folder? Could there be any sequrity problems? (I have disabled the use of internet in Win2000 so worms should not be a problem.) This way I could access all my files from both Ubuntu and Win2000 at the same time.

By the way, thanks for a GREAT product!

There is no reason not to share ...

One caution : If you directly download a file on Ubuntu and Transfer it to Windows well you have just circumvented any windows antivirus you might have ...

So, IMO, just scan any shared files on the windows side.

Better, Install Ubuntu and run Windows as a guest.
