vbox5.0 install issue on ubuntu 14.04 lts
vbox5.0 install issue on ubuntu 14.04 lts
After I install virtualbox-5.0_5.0.12 on my ubuntu 14.04 lts machine, my Ubuntu software center and terminal disappear. Didn't save the change log and refuse to go through all that again. I just wanted to let the community know. Peace out!

If they disappeared it had nothing to do with updating VirtualBox.

FWIW, Ubuntu Software Center has a number of issues and Canonical is planning to drop it.
Install gdebi and use that instead.

I originally downloaded from here (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/serve ... index.html) and used the Ubuntu Software Center. I tried again downloading from here https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian and used apt-get and that seemed to work. I never heard of gdebi, I'll have to check that out. Thanks loukingjr.

FWIW, I just download everything from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads and install VirtualBox with gdebi.
