VirtualBox Version 5.0.4 r102546
Extension Pack 5.0.4-102546
Host Fedora 21 : 4.1.6-100.fc21.x86_64
I have a fresh VirtualBox install on my Fedora 21 laptop (Toshiba Satellite A200-06V) with 4GB Memory, 1TB HDD. I created a VM from Ubuntu-15/-4-desktop-1386.iso with some 'standard' settings (mostly the same as similar a VM create on Windows Host). However, clicking on "Snapshots" in VirtualBox Manager does not show the expected information. No snapshot controls, and it looks the same as the "Details". After discovering that, I restarted the VM, created a live snapshot, then exited again. Snapshots changed to Snapshots (1), but I still can not actually see it from VirtualBox Manager. Ideas? What other details can I provide here to help?
I’ve used VirtualBox for a few years, but almost exclusively with a Windows XP/7/10 Host.
Given where the problem is, I do not think it has anything to do with the specific guest VM. It is not even running at the time I look at this.
Searching the forum did not locate anything related with the keywords I could think of.

A screenshot of the snapshot pane would be useful for this I think
Please attach the VBoxSVC.log file that you will find under $HOME/.config/VirtualBox and provide the output of the following command:

Sorry for the delay. Priorities shifted.
There does not seem to be a snapshot pane distinct from the details pane. Snapshots attached, but the only difference is which button shows active. The VBoxScv is complaining about snapshots still attached to the VM. That also attached.

Re: Missing snapshot controls in VirtualBox Manager
Your problem is that the VM & snapshot panel is totally hidden on the right.
With your mouse, go on the right side of the VirtualBox window. If you move a little bit around, you will see two type of mouse cursors: one for moving around a split window and the other one to resize the main window.
When the mouse has the split window icon, just maintain left click and drag it to the left. You'll see the VM & snapshot panel appear.

Yep, that was the problem. Strange default layout for the panes. Even knowing what to look for, it took a little playing to get hold of the divider to reduce the main window size to bring the others into view.noteirak wrote:Your problem is that the VM & snapshot panel is totally hidden on the right.

Re: Missing snapshot controls in VirtualBox Manager
FWIW, that is not the default layout. I don't know how it got that way but it's not the default.

Re: Missing snapshot controls in VirtualBox Manager
Well in my case "default" means that was a fresh install of VirtualBox, on an almost fresh build of Fedora 22. First VM in VirtualBox, created from fresh download of iso.loukingjr wrote:FWIW, that is not the default layout. I don't know how it got that way but it's not the default.

Well, in 5.0.14...
The status box at the bottom of the screen has a context menu (right-click) that allows you to turn the Toolbar on or off.
