two windows in taskbar [Solved-in Version 5.0.4]

Postby Conderls » 1. Sep 2015, 10:08

Hi there,

I'm using VM v5.0.0.r101573 on Opensuse 13.2 platform, it works perfectly but it keeps two windows in taskbar after starting a OS, both can active the VM. one can be close by right click it and close. it's annoying although it works well.

is there someone knows how to fix it? thanks

Moved to "Linux Hosts"

It sounds like the VM is configured with two monitors, which would spawn two windows on the host.
Check the VM configuration and make sure its set to 1.

If you run the guest in fullscreen mode the mini toolbar will show up as second icon in the taskbar.

FWIW, on OSX hosts, if you have the VirtualBox Manager open and start a guest, there will be two icons + the preview icon in the Dock whether you are in full screen or not. I've learned to ignore it.
see…?

I believe this was one of the bugs fixed in 5.0.2 (?)

I had the same issue with 5.0.0, but as of 5.0.2 (and now 5.0.4) it's no longer a problem.

Hi,

This problem has returned in version 5.1.22 r115126 (Qt5.5.1). So if you don't have the mini tool bar enabled then you just get the one window showing in the task bar but if you have the mini tool bar enabled then you get the normal window for the virtual machine and a addition window in the task bar called [Virtual Box].

John

If I remember correctly, this is an area that they're actively working on. So, try one of the test builds from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds and see if there is an improvement. Otherwise, you'll have to wait, it's going to be fixed "any time now™ ".
