Hello,
i have two hosts with virtualbox 4.2 (Debian wheezy) which i want to upgrade to 5.0. Each host has 3 guests (Debian wheezy and jessy).
Host one: the upgrade worked without any problems (remove 4.2, install 5, install Extension pack).
Host two: the guests don't work after upgrading. I see different errors.
-ping is possible
-ssh from Windows (putty) to the vm is not possible (signature problem)
-ssh from Linux to the vm is possible
-scp from Linux to the vm stopps in the middle of the file
-fail2ban ist not starting on the vm
-mysql replication stopps working because relay.log get's corrupted
kernel: [ 20.612095] fail2ban-client[2937]: segfault at f2f79fc50 ip 0000000000461ae1 sp 00007fffef916170 error 4 in python2.7[400000+257000]
Guest additions 4.1 (provided whith wheezy) were installed. But the problem also exists without them.
after removing virtualbox 5 and reinstalling virtualbox 4.2 the vm is working again.
Any ideas how i can resolve the problem?
Thanks
Andi
Upgrade to 5.0 problem - segfault in guests
Re: Upgrade to 5.0 problem - segfault in guests
New Details:
Host:
Linux version 3.2.0-4-686-pae
It seems that only guests with Linux version 3.2.0-4-amd64 are not working with virtualbox 5. They are working with virtualbox 4.2

As long as you don't provide VBox.log (which is documented pretty much everywhere to be the minimal requirement for getting any VM related issue investigated) I don't think you'll get much response.
