Post 5 installation difficulty

Ubuntu 14.04 64bit
VB AMD 64
WinXP

I have just upgraded to 5. Loading the VM is ok. The first screen is a program that loads on startup of Winxp. I usually close it but I can not see any scroll bars or reduce/ X keys to close the program running in XP. I can see the reduce/ X key to close the VM, which is not what I am trying to do. The mouse wheel on the page of the program does not move the screen up, from below the bottom of the VM's window. I can not access any controls of winxp because the initial program's screen is blocking access.

What should I adjust to get back to how it used to work under the earlier versions.

I think I may have solved it. I kept hitting F8 when winxp was loading in the VM. I could then adjust the resolution setting of windows. If it still does not work i will report back.
