Guest additions missing?

Post by cheyo »

I recently installed a Windows guest on a Mint 17.1 host. According to Package Manager, the guest additions are installed. But I cannot see a usb drive and the shared folder I requested does not show up.

That gives me the impression that guest additions are not installed. So... what should i do?

Thanks, José

Hmmm... there are 4 of them and they are very long. Any one of the 4?

Sorry.... I just started reading through one of the logs and it says that the guest additions are not installed. Strange, since Mint says they are. Should I re-install using Package Manager?

First guest additions are installed in the guest. Kind of why the name. I would stick with the virtualbox.org version if you want to continue to have support here. As for the log it is the only one that says log. The others have a number and are older. Just one and if it is too large compress it, that is if you still need assistance.

Well, under Machine/Show log there are 4 tabs: VBox.log, VBox.log2, VBox.log3 and VBox.log4. I am sending the first one.

But as I said, apparently Mint Installed the guest additions, but there are no sign of them in the guest VBox. The log says they are not installed. So my problem is how to get VBox to recognize it.

Thanks, José

Mint Installed the guest additions, but there are no sign of them in the guest
The reason why Mint can not install them is they go in the guest. Click on the device tab at the top of the guest window and click on insert guest additions. Then install them in the guest.
