Broken seamless mode with 2 monitors since 4.3.18

Post by vBen »

I'm on Mint 17 and a laptop (15" 1600x900) with a large monitor (24" 1920x1200) as secondary monitor.

After upgrading from 4.3.16 to 4.3.18 I'm facing severe usage problem with seamless mode in combination with my multi-monitor setup. As of 4.3.18 the seamless mode is limited to the height of the primary monitor (900px) and centered on the secondary screen. Fullscreen mode still works as expected and takes up the whole secondary screen.

This gives me a my two flying taskbars in the middle of my secondary screen: The one of the Windows Guest and the other of my VirtuaBox Host Toolbar.

Also reported as Bug ticket 13534 a month ago, but sadly no response. Anybody sharing my experience?

Sadly 4.3.20 still shares the regression with 4.3.18.

Same problem here, but seamless mode on mint 17 somehow start to work correctly. Now on upgrade to mint 17.1. and upgrading Virtualbox to 4.3.20 problem appear again.
I have connected 2 monitors primary 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 and seamless mode is limited to 1025 (probably 25px is mint panel). Full screen mode is OK.

I had same problem. But by the way I found 2 workarounds. Im on linux mint and virtual machine is windows7. I have linux panel on top of screen same as windows taskbar. Monitors 1920x1200 + 1680x1050.
1. I disable smaller (lower) monitor, turn on seamless mode and again turn monitor on. But after restart/restore host again bug appear. :-(
2. Align top of monitors in setting, not bottom. Taller monitor must be primary (In Cinnamon 2.6 (mint 17.2) panel could be on secondary monitor)
