Very useful info. Thank you.

Is anyone still looking at this? I have upgraded again to the latest version of Virtualbox and this still happens. I have updated the existing bug report.

As stated previously, I am running Ubuntu 12.10 64bit with 2 NVIDIA 560 cards. I have the very latest NVIDIA drivers. I am running Virtualbox 4.3.14.r95030. Also installed is matching guest additions and the matching Extension Pack. I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed and patched up to date. Everything works great with this configuration.

However, If I update VB to any other newer (4.3.26-98988~Ubuntu~precise) version I get the flashing as my mouse passes over windows or icons in the Windows 7 guest. This makes it unusable. Seems like since VB (and its components) are the only changes then it must be VB. If I remove 4.3.26-98988~Ubuntu~precise and reinstall 4.3.14-95030~Ubuntu~precise, everything goes right back to working.

Far from it, as you can see with all the activity on the ticket, with several developers replying on it.

Hello. I've updated ticket because same problem has arisen in my desktop since last upgrade. Previously I was in 4.3 branch, but unsure in which version.

Now, with 5.0.2 screen is flickering in my system:

Video card: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G96 [GeForce 9400 GT] (rev a1)
Host OS: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
Guest OS: Windows 10

If there is anything you want me to try, just ask. Thanks.

It's now version 5.0.10 and no progress has been shown about this. Is there anything that a simple user can try?

I confirm the issue is still present in VirtualBox 5.0.10.

And not only with Windows, but also Ubuntu 14+ guests, as mentioned in the defect ticket 13653.

I'm running a Debian 8 host with GeForce 660 GTX and a Ubuntu 15.10 guest.

(And for the record, I also have less demanding guests with KDE and Cinnamon which run perfectly fine on the same host. Very much in line with what user as123 wrote in the defect ticket 6 months ago.)

I think the only thing in common for all of us is nVidia GPU in Linux hosts.

Old bug, why not fixed?

In 5.0.16 it is there as for all further versions.

Same Host with Windows as OS there is no problem. And on other Hosts with AMD Radeon else no problem.

No answer? The bug is older than a year.

That should be fixed.

Is there someting i can do as user? Log files, debug mode, whatever?

"Regularly installing test builds and using them in your day-to-day work is one of the best ways you can help us improve the VirtualBox user experience."

I Want to help. I use VBOX "5.0.x revision 106566". No change. Nothing to do? Is there no developer active?

Sure there is stefen but they rarely drop by here. I know you updated the bugtracker ticket so that is the best way but you can always contact them on IRC or the Dev mailing list.
