Hi,
My laptop only has USB port 3. I need to run a Windows VM and use the USB ports.
How can I do?
USB support 3-is there finally?
In advance thank you

Re: Support of USB 3
AFAIK, USB 3 is not supported on Linux hosts.
What is the device? In many cases the issue can be sidestepped, e.g. shared folders can be placed on USB storage devices.

Hi,
This is not to use storage, but to connect to a PLC.

Re: Support of USB 3
I'm pretty sure the following doesn't work on Linux hosts, but it may be worth a try in case I'm wrong:
Connect the device via a USB2 hub. It will then appear to be a USB 2 device. In Windows VBox definitely supports USB2 devices in USB3 ports, though as I said I don't think the same is true of Linux.

Maybe I'm wrong but if I connect a USB2 hub to a USB 3 port it will not recognize any way VBox. No?
My device is USB 2 (maybe even USB 1). But all ports are USB 3

Re: Support of USB 3
As I said, on Windows VirtualBox definitely supports USB2 devices in USB3 ports. I'm not a Linux host user so I can't comment on what works there.
Is this a red herring? Have you gone through the normal stuff to get USB support working on a Linux host? E.g. joining yourself to the vboxusers group as discussed in section 3.10 of the user manual?

Re: Support of USB 3
I'm really confused ... I do not remember being forced to add me to vboxuser group.
But this has solved my problem.
Thank you.
