Error 101 ubuntu server cannot connect to internet

I installed ubuntu server 14.04 on virtual box and installed LAMP, webmin and FTP then suddenly i could not install any thing else because the initiation to connect to is not happening.

the error that I get is
connect(101 network is unreachable)
I am using bridged adpter with wlan. I don't have a firewall. My host machine is ubuntu 14.04 and apt-get update is working fine there. I have a wifi connection.

Wifi bridging is not always working, it's a 50% chance of working. Try with wired and see if that works.

and then do I have to change Virtual box network settings??

If you want to keep using wireless, you would need to set them to NAT yes.

Thanks this helped however I ran into another problem now I installed guest edition for the server using the following tutorial

everything worked fine until the end until I reboot my computer Now i cannot connect via ethernet at all. Even when VirtualBox is not running on my computer. I uninstalled Guset edition I am able to connect to wifi now but nno ethernet. I think may be problem was that this tutorial was for windows host while I have a ubuntu host machine. How can I fix this now? Would uninstalling Virtualbox altogather help?

Guest additions should be installed.... in the guest and not in the host!
