No USB Devices Connected

Post by SimonR »

Hi all, I'm running VB 4.3.10 and installed the same number extension pack, but I do not see any USB devices.

Poking around on this forum I have a) added my user to to the vboxusers group, and ensured there was an eol at the end of that file. Neither made any difference.

There's a particular device I want to connect, but to try to make a start, I have been offering a memory stick. The stick shows up and mounts in Linux, but when I go to the guest's Devices menu, the USB sub-menu says "no devices connected". Oh, and while rather redundant given that the host mounts the stick, lsusb shows it too.

The host is Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, 64bit, the guest is Windows XP (yeah, I know :)

Any suggestions, this seems very odd and is certainly very frustrating.

TIA
Simon

Turns out that upgrading the host from Ubuntu 12.04LTS to 14.04LTS has fixed this. I don't know which, if any, of the intervening versions might have solved the problem.
