This worked fine before updating. I am running XP inside Fedora 8. Why won't this work anymore?

I did. It is using guest additions 1.6...

I get the following message:
System error 53 has occurred

The network path was not found

Are you sure that the shared folder exists? I just ran that command on my shared folder, no problem. Keep in mind that it is case sensitive. Does you SF name have a space in it? If so, then use quotes around the whole path, like this: net use s: "\\vboxsvr\shared folder".

Please try the whole path without capitals.

But i think its better to use Samba. That works ever.

Also, I have no idea how you got your username to start with a capital. I wasn't able to create my user to start with a capital. The setup just wouldn't let me.

As for your shares, you have to make sure you have full access to it on the Host. And indeed, no capitals. It's very strange that it doesn't work. Did you install the GA properly? Perhaps you need to update them.

You can also use the Windows Explorer to browse your Shared Folders. From there, you can then map it too.

Some distributions do not allow you to use capital letters because it would mess up the mail server. I don't care about any mail server, and Fedora doesn't try to stop you from using capitals.

Yes, I have full access to /home/test via chown -R username:username /home/test

This shared folder WORKED with capitals before I installed VirtualBox 1.6 from VirtualBox 1.5.6

I installed Guest Additions. There isn't a whole lot I can do to determine if it is installed "properly" - it either installs or it doesn't. You can see from the screen capture above that I have the updated (ugly) VirtualBox guest additions icon in my system tray.

I don't know how I am supposed to find the shared folder (..?) I does not let me map it from My Computer.

Open My Computer, go to My Network Places, open Entire Network and from there you will see the Virtualbox Network.
