Post by Pentester »

Hello,
I've downloaded virtualbox-4.3_4.3.4-91027~Debian~wheezy_i386.deb for Kali Linux and Intalled VirtualBox successfully, now I'm trying to install Windows XP as a guest machine booting from an ISO image, the ISO image i downloaded is 100% healthy and i've downloaded it from Microsoft's site, when creating the new machine I choose Windows XP named the machine Windows XP, choose 512 RAM,create a virtual hard drive now,VDI,Dynamiclly allocated,10 GB, then did Settings>System>diselected Floppy, and CD/DVD comes before hard disk, than I start the machine I choose the path to the WinXP.iso which is on /root/WinXP.iso , I start but I get this ERROR Image

The .iso path is a little bit suspicious. Why is it on /root/? Do you have read access to the iso, e.g. can you mount it in your host?
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Hello,
actually I put the ISO file on /root folder and yes I can mount the ISO and it's 100% healthy I already tried to run the ISO from a different folder I mean from folder /root/Downloads/WinXP.iso but got same error

This is Service Pack 3 for XP, an update for an existing XP installation, not an iso for a new installation.

"ISO" just means it's an image of a data CD. You obviously think it means something else - it doesn't.

The extension "ISO" refers to the ISO-9660 (and derivative) filesystem used on optical data disks.

In this case, it's an image of a CD containing the XP service pack.
