Hy everybody,
i am using
Ubuntu Host 10.04 LTS,
Oracle VirtualBox Version 4.1.8 r75467
Guest Debian6 64
I have installed the Guest Addition with this help: http://virtualboxes.org/doc/installing- ... on-debian/ hopefully it is all OK, i dont know how to check.
Than i configured a "Machine Folder" for the debian6 VM a Shared Folder:
Folder Path: /media/data/VM/shared (exists on the host)
Folder Name: debian6
Disable Read-only
Enable Auto-mount
Enable Make-Permanent
After rebooting i found a directory in the guest called /media/sf_debian6 exacly as mentioned in the documentation. So i went to the host system and want to add a symbolic link to the shared folder:
root@host:/ ln -s /data/pictures/ /media/data/VM/shared
From the guest system it looks like this:
root@debian6:~# ll /media/sf_debian6/
lrwxrwx--- 1 root vboxsf 13 Dec 26 11:43 bilder -> /data/pictures/
If i want to change into that directory it says:
root@debian6:~# cd /media/sf_debian6/pictures
-bash: cd: /media/sf_debian6/pictures: No such file or directory
I tried alread adding the vboxsf group and file permissions to everybody everything but i cant change into that directory. Is it not possible?

Best Regards and Thanks for your Help

Dietmar

The user starting the desktop must be in this group. in the guest, not on the host. after adding to group the guest must be restarted.
