ATI video driver and guest VMs

Postby jimoe » 16. Mar 2010, 03:34

openSuse v11.2, linux 2.6.31.12-0.1-desktop x86_64
VirtualBox 3.1.4

I had a system freeze occur (caused by an OS/2 guest VM, happens regularly, reported, nothing so far). This time, though, the video configuration was damaged and the accelerated features of the video adapter (ATI Radeon hd3200) were no longer enabled. I decided to install the ATI video driver v9.11 which restored the accelerated features.

Now, however, the video performance for guest VMs, well, sucks. Is there some issue with the ATI video driver? Is there some magic to decent performance again?
