Network & CD burning under Ubuntu 7.10

Post by magicpants »

Hi,

Having recently installed Ubuntu 7.10 I gave virtualbox a go. Now windows 2003 installs ok and connects to the internet fine. What I really want to be able to do is network between the Linux host and the VR machine in order to share files.

The VR machine is set to use NAT, which allocates it a 10.0.. IP address, which can't be pinged from the host. I thought I'd reallocate the IP address on the VR box to use an allocated one from my router (192.168..), but this resulted in no access to the internet.

Can someone point me in the right direction with this one please?

Apart from network problems, when I come to burn a DVD on the VR machine it fails. Reading is ok, but it won't write for some reason. I'll post the error message when I get back home.

Thanks

Dave
