[Solved] Jerky mouse movement in Windows XP guest

Postby ww9rivers » 20. Dec 2008, 20:11

Host OS is Ubuntu 8.10 (2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP x86_64), AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+, 4GB RAM
VirtualBox 2.0.4 OSE with Guest Additions 2.0.4r38405
Guest Windows XP Pro. version 2002 SP3

When inside XP, even the Task Manager is showing 90%+ system idle, the mouse motion is jerky. It seems to move, stop and jerk every second. That seems odd since I have had VirtualBox on a Pentium Mobile with 1GB of RAM, which runs much slower but no such problem with mouse.

Any ideas and thoughts are appreciated.

Have a great holiday season!

[Edit]: Never mind. Upgrading to VBox 2.1 PUEL version solved the problem. And I must say VBox 2.1 is a big improvement, in terms of performance and usability. Great job that the VBox team has done!
