USB devices NOT visible on Vertual Box manager

Post by W8SRD »

Host is Ubuntu 20.04. Did all I could with Guest Additions, & Extensions package, tried adding my account to vboxusers. Said the group already exists. Groups $<user acct> shows I'm not on a vboxuser group. Not certain whats going on. But, When I try to connect USB ports in the setup screen for the windows 7 VM, No USB devices show up. Wish I knew Linux better.

Installation log has this entry :
addgroup: The group `vboxusers' already exists as a system group. Exiting.

Sooo whats next ?

Weell. found the answer. most say preceed the user name wit $ ie $<user>. false !!!!!!!!!!!!!
its : sudo usermod -aG vboxusers <user>

You can only get that error when creating a group, which is not what you should be doing - which is joining a group.
