Unable to add guest-additions to Windows 10 VM on Fedora 37 host

Post by neuroTypical »

Hi. I have a Windows 10 VM on a Fedora 37 host, VirtualBox version 7.0.6.

When I tried to add Guest-Additions by clicking "Devices" and selecting the "Insert Guest Additions CD image" option, a pop-up that said:
Could not find the VirtualBox Guest Additions disk image file.Do you wish to download this disk image file from the Internet?
showed up.
Clicking Download then brought up this pop-up that said:
Downloading Guest Additions...\n Name: VBoxGuestAdditions \nDuring certificate downloading: Unknown reason".
And then nothing happened after that. The Guest Addition ISO wasn't mounted and I wasn't able to install the Guest Additions.

If someone can help me add the Guest Addition to my VM, I would be very grateful. Also, please note that I'm rather new to Linux.

This probably means that you're using the Linux distro's fork of Virtualbox. The forks don't bundle the Guest Additions ISO and make folks download it separately. The Linux distros support problems with their forks.

Official Virtualbox https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads includes the bundled GAs ISO. You can also download the ISO from https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/

I installed it manually and it worked. Thank you.
