I was able to find a workaround for my Code 10 problem! Once again, my setup is Ubuntu 8.10, Virtualbox 2.1.4, Ipod Video with firmware 1.2.1 (if that matters).
All I had to do was to disable the usb-storage module. I did this by physically moving the file /lib/modules/2.6........../usb-storage.ko to another location before plugging in my Ipod Video. This way, the Ipod is left undisturbed by Linux when plugged in.
There may be a better solution, but as a first step, I think it's worth mentioning in case it helps anybody else.
Ubuntu Host, XP Pro SP3 guest does not see iPod Mini
Re: Ubuntu Host, XP Pro SP3 guest does not see iPod Mini
I tried that and did not make a difference still got the error code 10.... Did you reboot after moving the file? Also I retested this with Virtual Box 2.2 with the same results... I tested both iPod video and iPod Photo.....
