Guest additions always locks up the Windows 11 VM

I tried some of the ideas here, such as enable 3D accelleration. That "seemed" to help, but then there were window border graphics that were way-off.
Eventually the CPU on my host went to > 700%.
Each timem the VM ran for a bit, then was unusable and had to be powered off.
For my experience do NOT upgrade the GA to > 6.x


I hope there is an issue ticket with Oracle on this.

I'll wait for the next patched GA since, according to this tread, it seems that previous GA only partially work

Hi,

same problem for me. I solved it by installing the guest additions from the previous version in the windows client. So I have VB 7.0.4 and extension pack 7.0.4 on my MacBook and the guest additions 6.1.40 in the windows client. Works perfect (again).

Just adding a "me, too". An, it's reproducible as it happens on two different Ubuntu (22.04) hosts with Windows 11 clients (one with an NVIDIA graphic card and one with onboard Intel graphics). Downgraded back to 6.40 and will await an updated version.

Going to lock this one, as the recommended workaround of using 6.1 GAs in 7.0 seems to work, and 7.0 is undergoing continued development, so eventually 7.0's GAs will work.
