[solved] Windows 10 Client BlocksDebian Host

Post by BerndM »

Good Morning,

after some problems with Windows 10 client in VBox 6.1.34 with Ubuntu and debian host:
- Windows restart without user action after a not defined time
- Windows programms close from itself
- Windows Edge close some tabs
- other programs have also different problems

I reinstall my complete system, also Debian and the Windows 10.

First I installed all VMs in a Windows 10 host with actual updates. I use VBox 6.1.38. All is verry slow, because the system is 8 years old. But I can start the VMs:
- Windows 10 not with all updates (the last updates are not complete)
- Windows 10 21H2 with all updates
- Windows 11 with all updates
On all VMs is only Firefox and GData Antivir installed. Not more.
Than I install debian and copy the VMs to my debian host.
Now I will start the Windwos 10 21H2 installation. After start, the start needs to many time: When I click into the Windows 10 client windows or will configure the full screen mode the host is blocked. First the VBox Manager is blocked and then the rest. I can't configured the full screen resolution.
The Windows 11 VM is not start.

Now I work ca. 10 years with VBox and this problems is new for me.

Have everybody an idea what can I do to detect this problem?

Thanks for our help,
Bernd

Hello,

I've found the couse and solution for this.

My PC have an Nvidia card. And after new installation of Linux is the nouveau driver installed and this dosn't support 3D.
Now I've installed the Nvidia driver and the VM runs and the startup ist faster.
And the Windows 11 VM is started without problems.

I'm happy.

Have a nice Day,
Bernd
