While the
/Public/Storage/.../BytesRead|Written statistics serve as prove, there's also an indication beforehand to watch for:

The "Press any key to boot from CD" type of message mandates waiting for timeout, which often is ~4 seconds. The Windows boot loader changes the display resolution to 1024x768 quite early, typically within <1 second, even if it loads from an ISO image.
