Tool Column disappeared, but VM still active with UUID Error

Post by Legolas1309 »

Virtualbox 6.1 , Host: Ubuntu20, Guest-1: Win10 and Guest-2: win7.
For about half a year win10-guest was running properly with the VM files in a folder in /home/thomas/virtualbox. Now I need win7 for an old hardware device with USB. So I copied a folder with an old win7-VM from an old (non existing) computer beside the win10-folder and tried to add a new virtual machine. 3 problems occured:
- 1. The tools-column of VM Virtual Box Manager disappeared and I cannot find and start my win10 system.
- 2. Trying to a d d my current win10 system is refused with UUID-error
Trying to open a VM config '/home/thomas/virtualbox/win10pro-64-HP-Elitebook830_2021-04-03/win10pro-64-HP-Elitebook830_2021-04-03.vbox' which has the same UUID as an existing virtual machine.
. Somehow VM Virtual Box Manager sees the old win10 system, but I cannot.
- 3. Trying to add the new win7 system is refused with Guest-Additions-error
Cannot register the DVD image '/usr/share/virtualbox/VBoxGuestAdditions.iso' {de553d6d-84e5-49a2-b75a-58e44b63e2d7} because a CD/DVD image '/usr/share/virtualbox/VBoxGuestAdditions.iso' with UUID {98eb7fca-9c1d-48e3-9142-cf07af61bdcf} already exists.
. Does a win10-guest require another Guest-Addition than win7-guest ?
Now I cannot start the old win10 and cannot add a new system - looks like trap 8-| . What did I make wrong ? Thanks for support.
Sorry, can"t attach logfile (160kB) , too big.
