Applications closed when unlock

When I'm not working on virtual machine for a while, the VM does logout. When I came back, when I do login again, all the applications that were running, are now closed, like if the VM was just started. How can I solve this?

Virtualbox does not log out the OS inside the VM. Look at the power & Screensaver settings of the OS in the VM. Troubleshoot this with the OS's help channels as if it were happening on a real computer.
