What does this mean? How have I to react, or is it not important?

That's a good question. I'm no Linux guru, but I remember that 'i386' used to and may still refer to 32-bit. Since most every OS nowadays is 64-bit, the installer ight skip the 32-bit parts.

The Internet agrees: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=253190. Personally I only vaguely recall that terminology, and think that the current (for many years) terminology is "x86", as opposed to "amd64" or "i64" for the two flavors of 64bit on PCs (the latter of which is as obsolete as "i386"). I have a feeling that these older terminologies may be more common in BSD settings.scottgus1 wrote:but I remember that 'i386' used to and may still refer to 32-bit
Anyhoo, of course VirtualBox dropped support for 32bit hosts quite some time ago. For v6.0.0 I believe (released in 2018).

Re: installation on ubuntu 22.04
FWIW, in Debian-based Linux distributions (e.g. Debian, Ubuntu, Mint) many packages exist in 64-bit and 32-bit variants: For example, if you install "libc" or "libc:amd64", you get the 64-bit variant, and if you install "libc:i386", you get the 32-bit variant. "amd64" and "i386" are called "architectures", if someone wants to google it.
Re: installation on ubuntu 22.04
If the system is complaining about 32bit support you carry the instructions there (Ubuntu is Debian based)
