VirtualBox 6.1.34, Fedora 35, installs in VM crash the VM

Post by flipflip »

Hello everyone,

Since my switch to Fedora 35 (new installation) I have a problem with VirtualBox 6.1.34. I use it to run a Windows 7 and each time I want to install or uninstall a program (this happens more rarely on other actions) VirtualBox crashes completely. It's Virtualbox that crashes and not the VM, the window menus are inaccessible and in the logs I have the message

Code: Select all

There would be a problem with the split lock detection. I did some research but this is beyond me. Are you encountering the same problem?

Thanks in advance.

Start the VM from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM's OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Hello,

When the problem appears I cannot launch a shutdown from the OS or access the menu of the Virtualbox window because everything is frozen. I can just click on the cross at the top right to close the window until gnome offers to force close it.

I don't see anything odd in the log. The VM runs for 24 minutes, then cuts off.

Only thing I can suggest is add a processor. Modern Windows likes 2 processors. Aside from this we'll have to wait for a Linux guru to weigh in.
